Like any profession, financial advice can be a stressful occupation, at all levels of a practice, from the client-facing advisers to the administrative support staff. Volatile markets, demanding clients, complex client problems, compliance demands, long hours, regulatory changes, the ongoing professional development requirements and the pressure to perform well can overwhelm anyone, if the right support is not there. Financial advisers have previously reported high levels of burnout and depression related to these pressures. Building resilience, implementing support systems, promoting work/life balance and looking after physical and mental wellbeing is an investment that can pay off exponentially for a practice.
The session will cover behaviours and strategies that the financial planners who have good wellbeing, mental health, quality of life and work-life balance have implemented to not only manage, but flourish in these areas. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of how to manage stress and institute practices that promote well-being and adaptability. This involves approaching friction-causing issues, like compliance, in a more positive and productive way, building-in coping mechanisms, adopting healthy habits and developing and cultivating a positive mindset, not only to prevent burnout, but to foster a stronger and more inspiring culture, bringing greater value and purpose to the people who work in the practice.
What are the mindsets, habits and strategic focuses of financial planners who are evolving their businesses into the happiest and most personally rewarding places for their staff to spend their working week? What does a truly resilient and productive practice culture look like? We’ll find out.
In the September edition of the INPractice Online, The Inside Network will explore:
Identify the key stressors impacting financial advice professionals across all levels of a practice, and explore how these pressures contribute to burnout, disengagement and mental health challenges.
Examine the habits, behaviours and mindsets of advisers who are thriving, including how they manage stress, maintain balance and promote a healthier and more sustainable professional life.
Explore practical strategies for building resilience and wellbeing within advisory teams, including how to develop support systems, reframe compliance friction, and embed coping mechanisms into daily routines.
Learn how to cultivate a performance culture rooted in purpose, adaptability and wellbeing, turning advisory practices into high-functioning, inspiring environments where people want to work and grow.
